    Place, room a space sa preloží ako miesto. Výrazy ale nie sú vždy zameniteľné. Place pleɪs je vymedzené miesto, pozícia ap., zatiaľ čo room ruːm a space speɪs znamenajú priestor na uskladnenie ap. NEMOŽNO teda povedať: There is not enough place., ale len: There is not enough room/space. - Nie je tam dosť miesta.

    Pozor! Slovo minute ˈmɪnɪt znamená minúta. ale má aj homonymum (rovnako písané slovo) s inou výslovnosťou maɪˈnjuːt. Znamená maličký, nepatrný.

    Hovorové mum či mummy ˈmʌmɪ sa užíva v britskej angličtine. V americkej sa hovorí skôr mom mɒm či mommy ˈmɒmi. Formálne je matka - mother ˈmʌðə.
